MOOSE TAKE DOWN SMCC (1-0) IN A 14 SAVE SHUTOUT

(Augusta, ME) In an impressive display, UMaine Augusta Moose claimed a narrow 1-0 victory against the Southern Maine Community College Seawolves, underscoring their robust defensive strategy and effective game plan.

The match's sole goal was scored by Aurelia Maietta at the 33:01 mark of the first half, with an assist from Rhiannon Bousquet. This pivotal goal provided Augusta with the 1-0 win, exemplifying their knack for capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Throughout the contest, the Moose effectively converted their limited chances into a winning edge, while SMCC just couldn't find the back of the net.

Abigail Hynes, the goalkeeper for Augusta, was outstanding, racking up an impressive 14 saves and maintaining a clean sheet. The save of the game came off the foot of Jocelyn Civiello's PK, eliminating the Seawolves chance of pulling out a draw. Conversely, Southern Maine's Aubrey Gilbert faced a total of four shots on goal, managing to save three but ultimately unable to prevent the decisive strike.

The Moose will next faceoff against the CMCC Mustangs on Tuesday, September 16 at 4pm at CMCC.
