Augusta, ME – At the UMA graduation on May 12th Dean of Student’s Sheri Fraser presented senior cross-country and basketball athlete Carmen Bragg with the Kathleen Dexter Distinguished Student Award. This award is given annually to one of UMA’s top all-around graduating students and the criteria for selection includes:

Concord, NH – The University of Maine at Augusta women’s basketball team (10-2) traveled to New Hampshire over the weekend to play in the NHTI Holiday Inn New Year's Classic. The Moose picked up where they left off before winter break winning their first game of the new year against Berkeley College 61-51.

Concord, NH – It was an early 10:00 a.m. game slated for the Moose as they opened the second day of tournament play against Massasoit Community College. However, that early time slot did not impact UMA as they played their way to another commanding win closing the tournament weekend out undefeated.

PAUL SMITHS, NY – UMA (4-1) started their weekend on the road in the foothills of the Adirondacks against Paul Smith (3-2). The travel didn’t seem to affect the Moose as they are now 3-0 on the road.

CONCORD, NH – UMA (5-1) rounded out the weekend on the road with a dominating win over a very strong NHTI team (3-2).

Moose hold off Bengals

Fort Kent, ME—The University of Maine at Augusta traveled to Fort Kent, ME over the weekend to take on the Bengals from the University of Maine at Fort Kent.  While travel could have easily slowed the Moose at the start of the game, they sprung off to an early 23-16 lead over Fort Kent in the first quarter.  Junior Caitlin LaFountain netted a quick 8 points and 7 boards in one quarter of action, which forced the Bengals to add more pressure in the paint.
