AUGUSTA, Maine - Freshman Noah Thompson scored a season-high 28 points, including a record-tying eight three-pointers, but the University of Maine at Augusta men's basketball team could not hold off Central Maine Community College, falling 103-94 Thursday night in Yankee Small College Conference action.

Senior Keith Chesley (Clinton, Maine) was a monster on the boards for UMA, grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds. Freshman Dustin West (Madison, Maine) had his best game of the season with 16 points, including three from behind the arc.
Thompson (Yuma, Ariz.) came out on fire, scoring 12 points on four consecutive triples to get the Moose out to an early 16-7 lead. Thompson and West combined for 19 of the first 21 points for UMA, who led by as many as 12 in the first half. But the Mustangs came roaring back with a 26-5 run to close out the half with the lead, 51-38.
UMA started the second half strong, opening with a 10-4 run highlighted by a dunk from Rogers on the pretty assist from Chesley to cut the Mustang lead to five points with 17:02 remaining in regulation. The Moose trailed by as little as four points with 6:22 left in the game, but CMCC scored eight quick points to put the game away for good.
UMA shot 40.6% from behind the arc on the night, and 44.4% from the floor while going 17-25 from the free throw line. The Mustangs had the edge in rebounds, grabbing 45 boards to UMA's 34. CMCC was led by Pietro Badalassi and Carrington Miller, who scored 22 and 20 points, respectively.
