CAPE ELIZABETH, ME - The UMA golf team traveled to Purpoodock Golf Club this past weekend to play in the SMCC Invitational along with NHTI. This was the first Saturday that brought crisp fall weather proving to be perfect golf weather for the competition.
The UMA golf team brought five players to the tournament and had another week where players made positive strides in individual play including sophomore Nate Martin. When asked how Saturday's tournament went Martin stated, "This last week, I've been working on correcting my swing path from outside to in to fix my slice. With this correction, I was able to keep the ball in play and in the fairway more often which in turn allowed me to have better approach shots at the green." Martin was able to end the day with a score of 99 dipping below the 100-stroke mark for the first time while competing for UMA.
UMA finished with a team score of 381 to NHTI's 362 followed by a team score of 453 by SMCC. UMA golf will be hosting their home invitational at the Augusta Country Club on Saturday, September 29th.
