Cole Martin Commits to UMA Track and Field

Cole Martin – Verona High School, New Jersey

Cole Martin of Verona New Jersey has committed to UMA for the fall of 2021 and will compete for the Track and Field program. Martin is a pole vaulter who finished 3rd at the NJSIAA Group Championships in the spring of 2020. Martin competes both for his club track team as well as for Verona High School. Martin will be majoring in aviation while attending UMA and is currently working on his private pilot license.

Outside of track and flying Cole volunteers for the local fire department in Verona and with the new UMA dorms being right next to the Hallowell Fire Department, he is looking to continue doing so while in college.

Coach Gilpatrick’s Thoughts

I was fortunate enough to meet Cole and his family while they were vacationing in Maine this past summer.  While giving them a tour of campus, I was able to get to know more about Cole and his aspirations. Cole being passionate about aviation makes UMA a great fit for him and he will add a new dynamic to our track team with his vaulting ability. He does very well academically and is already looking for ways to be involved in the Hallowell community through service; which really demonstrates the level of his character.  He will be a phenominal addition to our Moose family.
