Brendan Gilpatrick is heading into his 3rd year as the head coach for the University of Maine at Augusta’s men’s and women’s cross country teams and his second year as the head coach for the track and field program that began its inaugural season in the spring of 2019.
Gilpatrick guided the women’s cross country team in his first year as head coach to a 2nd place finish in the Yankee Small College Conference 2017 championship. This was also the first year for both teams were able to travel to the National USCAA Cross Country Nationals in Virginia Beach.
Brendan grew up in Maine attending Hebron Academy and went on to play lacrosse for the University of Southern Maine Huskies where he graduated from in 2006. He has been a competitive ultra-runner who has competed around the country and abroad with notable top 10 finishes in distances ranging from 50K to 100 miles. He is currently working on a master’s degree in Kinesiology at the University of Maine with a thesis focused on distance running. He currently holds a USATF Level 1 Track and Field Coach certification and is a certified running coach through the RRCA.
