Concord, NH – The University of Maine at Augusta women's basketball team (10-2) traveled to New Hampshire over the weekend to play in the NHTI Holiday Inn New Year's Classic. The Moose picked up where they left off before winter break winning their first game of the new year against Berkeley College 61-51.
UMA controlled the lead through the majority of the first quarter until Crystal Miller for Berkeley made a layup giving the Knights the lead, 15-13 going into the second quarter. The second quarter saw more of the same with several lead changes and Berkeley up by 2 points going into the half.
With halftime adjustments in the locker room, the Moose came out with a new-found energy to start the second half. The Moose were jumpstarted by a 3 pointer from Dominique Lewis giving UMA the lead which they would continue to open up throughout the third quarter and eventually extending it to 47-36 going into the fourth. UMA maintained their lead through the remainder of the game never letting the Knights get within 10 points until the final buzzer.
The Moose face Massasoit Community College at 10AM on Sunday to close out the NHTI Holiday Inn New Year's Classic.
