AUGUSTA, ME--- The University of Maine at Augusta is thrilled to announce the addition of Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field to its athletic offerings beginning in the 2018-19 academic year. UMA students will have the opportunity to compete in running, jumping, and/or throwing events throughout New England. UMA will join Yankee Small College Conference member schools: Unity College, Vermont Technical College, and Hampshire College, who all offer the sport.
“Outdoor track and field is a great fit for us here at UMA," boasts Athletic Director, Jennifer Laney. “It has something for everyone; from running, jumping, vaulting, and throwing.” UMA Cross Country coach Brendan Gilpatrick was also excited to hear the news saying that, "The addition of Track and Field is an amazing addition to UMA and this will only strengthen our cross country program. It will prove to be a great recruiting tool for the university as well as offer current standout track athletes a way to compete and represent UMA in Maine and New England."
The track and field season will begin in the spring of 2019. Those interested in participating in Track and Field should email: Brendan.firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
